The single biggest problem facing people when planning their Florida family vacations is the choices they will have to make.  There is just so much to do and see for grown ups and little ones alike, choosing what you leave out of your itinerary will be heart wrenching.  Making the most out of your precious break will take a little advance planning, but your patience will be rewarded with a memorable, happy family break.

People have families just so they can have Florida family vacations!  To get you started here are just some of our suggestions for your trip.

Florida is the Sunshine State

As we are talking about the sunshine state then sun and sand make for a good starting point, and fortunately there is an abundance of both.  Our favorite place to experience the beaches of Florida has to be South Beach.  Its proximity to Miami City means you can combine the best of a city break, while returning at the end of your day to the sophistication and tranquility of your hotel.  South Beach is great for families because it is so easy to get around on foot.  Everything is near and close to hand, so family strolls before dinner are easy and relaxing.

While you are resting by the ocean or your pool, the children can be trying one of the many fishing experiences that are available.  The clear calm waters in this area make it a wonderful place to either introduce your children to the water, or develop any existing swimming and diving skills they already have. There is a fishing package for everyone from a total beginner to a seasoned old fisherman.

Swiming With the Dolphins

For most children the experience of seeing and sometimes even swimming with Dolphins will be the high point of the vacation.  Florida family vacations and dolphins go together. A visit to the dolphins also comes under ‘educational things to do’.  Most dolphin centers go to great lengths to teach the children about these magical creatures, their habitat and habits.  Your children will never look at Flipper in the same way.

Kennedy Space Center

Another great and truly unique Floridian day out is a visit to the Kennedy Space Center. Adults and children alike flock here for what is an inspirational and fun day out.  You will be amazed at the questions your children will be asking and how they come away with a new interest in worlds outside of their own.

The Florida Everglades

And finally there are the Florida Everglades.  You could spend an entire family vacation here exploring the flora and fauna of this nature park. However, if you are running out of time (all good things come to an end), then try and fit in a few hours, it’s a different and fascinating world.

Get ready for a beach vacation in Florida!

Why Florida Beaches?

Simply put, it’s because Florida is home to some of the finest beaches in the world.  Whether you prefer a beach with tons of activites, a quiet Florida beach or something in between, it’s here for your vacationing pleasure.

When it comes to planning family vacations, Florida is tops on the list.  And without further ado, here are three of the top Florida beaches for a wonderful vacation.

Clearwater Beach Vacation

If you have little ones in tow, consider a Clearwater Beach vacation.  The water is warm and calm, perfect for swimming or just paddling around.  You don’t want to miss the beach’s pleasures, for sure!

But it’s not only for youngsters.  Aside from the sand and sun, there’s a gastronomic wonder wating for you at Frenchy’s, in the form of stone crab claws.  Yummmmmmm!

Oh, and before I forget, check out the pier at sunset — you’ll think you’re in Mallory Square in Key West — lots of excitement for young and old alike!

Daytona Beach – The World’s Most Famous Beach

Daytona really doens’t need an introduction, because it’s billed as ‘the world’s most famous beach’.  But let’s check it out!

If you love wide, sandy beaches, you’ll be in your element here.  Whether you like strolling the shoreline, doing some people watching or building sandcastles, Daytona is the place to be.  The waves are more pronounced here, with surfing available as an activity.

Still, Daytona Beach offers more, the Museum of Arts and Sciences is a great place to wander around in.  Shop-a-holics can check out the Volusia Mall or the Ocean Walk Shops for some retail therapy.  And of course, Disney World is a hop, skip and a jump away.

Yes, Daytona is a wonderful choice for a Florida beach vacation!

Ft. Lauderdale Beach

OK, the beach is a little narrow (compared to Clearwater and Daytona), but there is lots to see and do here.  From the beach with all its activities (parasaling, kayaking, volleyball and sand-castle building to name a few) to the nearby sights, this is a great place for a vacation.

You have to visit the wavewall and the promenade — the place to see and be seen. The wavewall, extends for two whole miles along the main part of the beach and has become one of the signatures of the area.  This is a great place if you like people-watching!

The promenade itself has been pedestrianised and allows for a relaxed gentle stroll overlooking the beach.  Imagine the waving palms and the tropical breezes.  Even in the winter this is a delight.  (Or mabye even especially in winter, when the snow is drifting back at home.)

And of course there is Las Olas Boulevard not too far away, for those looking for upscale shopping and dining.

A Florida Beach Vacation

These are just three of the glorious Florida beach vacation opportunities.  Others, such as St. Augustine Beach, Panama City and Cocoa Beach offer pleasures of their own.

Come on down to Florida — the natives are friendly and the beaches are glorious!
